For a gala dinner hosted for Bulgari, she donned a floor-length gown by designer Ashwin Thiyagarajan. It took over 100 hours to create this stunning Banarasi gown featuring vibrant boho elements and upcycled Banarasi panels. Thiyagarajan is renowned for his eye-catching Banarasi brocade festive wear, favoured by international celebrities like Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) and Indian stars like Taapsee Pannu and Aishwarya Rajesh.

Upcycling For Sustainability

Upcycling of clothes has become a part of conscious fashion that is eco-friendly. Traditionally, we have been repurposing our mothers' and grandmothers' heirloom sarees/ lehengas to create something new. And, many celebrities have been embracing sustainable fashion. Reusing materials for creating a fresh piece is a much-needed move and fashion houses have been embracing it, in order to bring sustainability in fashion. For instance, Prada in its quest to become sustainable started Prada Re-Nylon. According to Prada's website, "The Prada Re-Nylon collection is crafted entirely from regenerated nylon created through the recycling and purification of plastic collected from oceans, fishing nets, landfills and textile fibers waste globally. Through a process of de-polymerization, purification and transformation of the new polymers into threads, this material can be made into new nylon fabric. " Patagonia has been championing the cause of eco-friendly fashion and is the most popular brand known for using recycled materials in their clothing lines. For instance Patagonia, uses "recycled polyester made from used soda bottles and unusable manufacturing waste to create new polyester fibers for clothing."
