Protea is a new engineer based Warframe that has been added to the game and is the 43rd Warframe. To get her you will need to play through the Deadlock Protocol mission. This mission can be accessed from the Codex.

You will need to have completed the Vox Solaris quest to get access to the Deadlock Protocol mission.

Mission 1

The first mission takes place on the Cytherean node on Venus, against level 11-13 enemies. The mission is Interception and will play out over three rounds. During each round, Nef Anyo will contact you with some story relevant dialogue, but we will be keeping this guide spoiler-free.

Visit Eudico at Fortuna

When the mission is over, you will need to visit Eudico at Fortuna, on Venus. You can find her in the secret meeting room at Fortuna. After you speak with her, you can return to the Orbiter.

Mission 2

The next mission takes part on V-Prime on Venus. It will play out like a Mobile Defense, and you will need to defend two points in total. When it is over, you will need to Extract to end the mission. Throughout, Nef will reveal important story elements, so lore fans should pay attention to his rambling.

Visit Eudico

Once again, it is back to Fortuna to speak with Eudico about what is happening.

Mission 3

This mission takes place on the Roche node on Phobos. For this mission, you will need to follow the waypoints, then kill an enemy carrying Granum Tribute and take it to the tribute. Interact with the tribute, making sure no enemies are near, and you will be teleported to a new realm. There is another lore dump here as you try to fight Corpus Spectres, then you will get ported back and will need to extract.

When you get back to the Orbiter, Nef will contact you with a blueprint for the Xoris Glaive weapon.

Mission 4

This mission takes place on Valac, Europa. This is a Spy mission, so bring a stealthy Warframe and some Ciphers for the hacking that you will need to do.

During this Spy Mission, you will get all the parts to build the Xoris from the three vaults you need to hack, and must then return to the Orbiter to build it. It has a build time for 30 seconds. Equip the Xoris, and you are ready for the next step.

Mission 5

This mission takes place on Neptune, at the Parvos node. You will need to go back to the other realm and use the Xoris to fight Protea. You can throw the Xoris to damage the specters, turning them into ghosts, and then hit them again to charge the Xoris. Doing this three times will fully charge it, and you can then use it to interrupt Protea when she tries to rewind time to get her health back from the damage you do to her. It’s an awkward enough fight with all the Spectres, so we would recommend a tank frame.

This is the last mission in the quest, and when it is over you will have the main Protea blueprint. To get her component blueprints, you will need to play a mission on the Corpus Ship tileset and hunt down a Treasurer who will drop a Granum Crown on death. This can then be brought to a tribute and you can visit the Granum Void to find the component blueprints.

Farming Crowns and Protea Components

There are three types of Granum Crown, all listed below.

  • Granum Crown – gets you access to Granum Void (can drop Protea Nueroptics on Rotation C)
  • Exemplar Granum Crown – gets you access to Extended Granum Void (can drop Protea Chassis on Rotation C)
  • Zenith Granum Crown – gets you access to Nightmare Granum Void (can drop Protea Systems on Rotation C)

Rotation C means achieving Rank 3 during the Granum Void Challenge, so 75 kills before the timer runs out.

The easiest spots to farm each type of Crown are as follows:

  • Fossa (Venus) – Granum Crown
  • Trition (Neptune) – Exemplar Crown
  • Oceanum (Pluto) – Zenith Crown

You will need to grind each tier of the challenge until you get all the components. A single Granum Crown is all you need to get a full squad into the Void, so it is a good idea to head to region chat and form a squad with other people who are trying to get her components.
