Clay Guida Net Worth $2 Million
Little is known about his early life and family, apart from the fact that he is the younger brother of Jason Guida, who is also mixed martial artist. Clay went to Johnsburg High School in Johnsburg, Illinois, where he became interested in wrestling and joined the high school team. Following his matriculation, Clay enrolled at William Rainey Harper College, where he also continued with his wrestling career.
Before he turned professional, Jason held several odd jobs, including working as a carpenter, out of which he got the nickname “The Carpenter”. His professional career and net worth began in 2003, with a fight at Silverback Classic 17 against Adam Copenhaver, which he lost in the third round. Nevertheless, this didn’t dispirit him and immediately in his second career fight he defeated Adam Bass as a part of the XFO promotion in 2004. He continued to fight in the XFO and Xtreme Kage Kombat promotions, defeating such opponents as Shawn Nolan, Randy Hauer, Vito Woods, Brandon Adamson, Chris Mickle, and Bart Plaszewski, increasing his net worth, until he joined Strikeforce in early 2006, making a debut in the fight against Josh Thomson, defeating him in fifth round by unanimous decision, so winning the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship title, but lost it just three months later to Gilbert Melendez by split decision.
Later that year he joined UFC, and since then has been fighting in the biggest MMA promotion company. Clay made his debut against Justin James at UFC 64, and won the match by submission in the second round. After that he had a short negative streak of two losses, against Din Thomas and Tyson Griffin, but bounced back with a win against Marcus Aurelio. In 2009 he defeated the legend of MMA, Nate Diaz at the UFC 94 by split decision, and earned ‘fight of the night’ honors.
During 2010 and 2011 he had several notable wins, against such opponents as Shannon Gugerty, Rafael dos Anjos, Tanori Gomi and Anthony Pettis, which added a considerable amount to his net worth. However, since then his career has been in a downward spiral, and out of nine matches he has fought, Clay came out victorious in only three of them, defeating Hatsu Hioki and Robbie Peralta, but lost to some big names, including Gray Maynard and Chad Mendes.
His current record is 32 wins and 17 losses, but he has won several awards, including the Fight of the Year vs. Diego Sanchez in 2009, given by the World MMA Awards, and also won Tequila CAZADORES Spirit Award, two times.
Regarding his personal life, Clay tends to keep his life private, and although he is quite active on social networks, including Twitter and Facebook, he only informs fans about his next events.
