Jackie Chan is often said to be the global face of Eastern cinema. He’s known for doing his own stunts and has said to have broken every bone in his body doing so. His movies combine a mix of martial arts and comedy and needless to say are hugely entertaining. 1. Jackie Chan Film - Snake in the Eagle's Shadow (1978)

Jackie Chan Film Directed by Yuen Woo-ping, the film starred Jackie Chan, Hwang Jang Lee and Yuen Siu Tien. Chien Fu (Jackie Chan), an orphan adopted by a kung fu school is treated as a walking punching-bag by the masters and the students. He befriends an old beggar (Yuen Siu Tien) by offering him a meal and a place to stay. Unknown to Chien, the old beggar is actually one of the last surviving masters of the Snake-style and is hiding from the masters of the Eagle Claw clan, who are viciously killing off Snake-style masters. He begs the master to teach him. At first, he doesn’t relent but later starts teaching him. Chien soon gets better and this catches the attention of Eagle clan masters. They follow him but thankfully his master has disappeared. Chien develops his own style while watching a cat fighting a snake and that helps him tremendously in the final showdown with the main Eagle master.

2. Jackie Chan Film - Drunken Master (1978)


Jackie Chan Film Directed by Yuen Woo-ping, the film starred Jackie Chan, Yuen Siu-tien, and Hwang Jang-lee. It is an early example of the comedic kung fu genre popularised by Jackie Chan. The film's protagonist Wong Fei-hung is a traditional Chinese folk hero. His teacher, Beggar So, is another character from Chinese folklore. Wong is a mischievous lad and his father wants him to learn martial arts under Beggar So, who is supposed to be very strict. When he’s humiliated by Yim Tit-sam, he seeks out So and begins his strict training regime. So teaches him all his secrets and he masters them all except the feminine style. A rival gives a contract to Yim Tit-Sam to kill Wong’s father and Wong and Beggar So reach in time to save him. Wong is initially able to match Yim Tit-Sam but later takes a beating. His master asks him to combine all the seven styles and develop his own version of the feminine style. He does so and wins the fight.

3. Jackie Chan Film - Project A (1983)

Jackie Chan Film Project A Directed by Jackie Chan, the film has Jackie, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao as the main stars. Set in the 19th century in old Hong Kong, it tells of a joint operation between the Hong Kong regular police and Marine Police to get rid of the pirates once and for all. After the pirates blow up their ship, the MPs have to train to become regular policemen. Hong Tin-tsu (Yuen Biao), the police chief’s nephew at first berates Dragon (Chan) but they later become friends. Another character Fei (Sammo Hung), who has underworld connections, informs that the pirates are buying guns and they can follow the trail to their hideout. He thwarts the plans of the pirates and is almost killed after falling from a clock tower. He convinces the higher-ups of regrouping the Marine Police once more and in a joint operation with the police, they go on a mission against the pirates, nailing them at their own den.

4. Jackie Chan Film - Wheels on Meals (1984)


Jackie Chan Film Wheels On Meals The film was shot in Barcelona, Spain and was directed by Sammo Hung. It starred Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Lola Forner, Benny Urquidez and José Sancho. Thomas (Chan) and David (Biao) are cousins who run a fast food van in Barcelona. They both have the hots for Sylvia (Lola Forner), who turns out to be a multi-millionaire heiress. Moby (Hung) is a bumbling detective who is tracking her. When she is kidnapped, Thomas, David and Moby team up to save her. Alone, they are no match for the kidnappers but they combine their fighting styles to win the day.

5. Jackie Chan Film - Police Story (1985)


Jackie Chan Film Police Story Written and directed by Jackie Chan, it’s the first of the Police Story films featuring Chan as a Hong Kong police detective named Kevin Chan Ka-Kui. In 2016, Police Story was voted the fourth-best action film of all time in Time Out's poll of film critics, directors, actors and stunt actors. Jackie Chan reportedly considers it as his best action film. After a failed sting operation, officer Chan is asked to guard a girl who has agreed to bear witness against a major crime lord. However, the girl runs away and the case gets thrown out of the court. The criminal kills a policeman and frames all charges on Chan. He’s now on the run from the police as well as the bad guys. To clear his name, he now has to steal data from the gangster’s office set in a mall. The witness agrees to do it for him but the crime lord gets to know of it, and Chan has to virtually defeat a whole army all by himself to save the girl and get the data.

6. Jackie Chan Film - Armour of God (1986)


Jackie Chan Film Armour of God Written and directed by Jackie Chan, the film has Alan Tam, Lola Forner and Rosamund Kwan as Jackie’s co-stars. Chan came the closest he has ever been to death at the time while filming a stunt. When he leapt onto a tree from a ledge, the branch he grabbed snapped, sending him plummeting down. He cracked his skull and now is famously said to have a hole in his head because of the injury. In order to save his friend Alan’s girlfriend from being killed by religious fanatics, Jackie makes a deal with a multi-millionaire who has three pieces of the legendary Armour of God that he’ll complete the set for him after rescuing the girl. The tycoon’s daughter too accompanies them on the mission. He raids the secret monastery, rescues his friends not once but twice but is captured by female assassins. He defeats them by discovering their weakness. Running away, he blows the castle, along with the armour, and has to base jump off a cliff onto a balloon in order to save himself. 

7. Jackie Chan Film - Twin Dragons (1992)

Jackie Chan, Best, films Directed by Ringo Lam and Tsui Hark, the film stars Jackie Chan in a double role as twin brothers separated at birth. A Hong Kong couple (Sylvia Chang and James Wong) get delivered with twin boys. While they are in the hospital, a dangerous gang leader named Crazy Kung (Kirk Wong) takes one of the twins as a hostage and the two boys get separated in the mayhem. Ma Yau, is taken to America by his parents and becomes while the other is raised by a woman named Tsui (Mabel Cheung), and becomes a martial artist named Bok Min. 26 years later, their paths cross when Ma Yau comes to Hong Kong for a concert. They share a unique ability in the sense that one is able to mimic the abilities of the other. Hence, Ma Yau is able to save Bok Min’s friend from gangsters while Bok Min is able to successfully conduct an orchestra. They also finally take revenge on Crazy Kung as well. The film ends on their wedding day -- but the misadventures aren’t yet over as their fiancees, as well as guests, can’t tell them apart.

8. Jackie Chan Film - Rumble in the Bronx (1995)

Ma Hon Keung (Jackie Chan), comes to the Bronx to attend his uncle’s wedding. His uncle wants to sell his store as it is beset by too many robberies. He helps the new buyer Elaine (Anita Mui), set up the store and even chases off some local gangsters initially but the frequency keeps on increasing. Meanwhile, another criminal hides diamonds in his disabled neighbour’s wheelchair. Now, it’s not one but two gangs which are after him. He takes out one by defeating them in a martial arts battle and takes the help of the police to go after the other. In the end, after many death-defying adventures, he runs over the crime boss with a hovercraft.

9. Jackie Chan Film - The Tuxedo (2002)

It is a spy film spoof in which a special tuxedo grants its wearer superhuman abilities. James "Jimmy" Tong (Jackie Chan) is a taxi driver notorious for his speed. He becomes the personal driver to Clark Devlin (Jason Isaacs), who is a secret government spy. When an attack sends Devlin into a coma, Tong is compelled to finish off his most recent mission in order to get justice for his boss. He must stop a megalomaniac from taking over the world water supply. He’s joined in the mission by Delilah "Del" Blaine (Jennifer Love Hewitt) who is a genius scientist but completely new to fieldwork. Jimmy, who is masquerading as Devlin, hopes the suit’s powers would hide his flaws. After a series of hilarious misadventures, he overcomes the villain by using his own bio-weapon against him and ends up being an agent in Devlin’s organisation.
