IT minister Gudivada Amarnath said that Andhra Pradesh should not be compared with other states as it is in a budding stage. The minister also said that he should not be compared with his counterpart in the neighbouring Telugu state and asked people not to compare him with neighbor state IT minister. “It can take one or even two decades for Andhra Pradesh to develop,” he predicted.

However, he tried to convince the people in the state saying that of every 100 IT employees working in Telangana, 15 are Telugus. Of them, 10 hail from Andhra Pradesh, he said.

These statements by Amarnath drew a lot of criticism from the opposition parties. At one instance, the YCP government claims that the progress and development in Andhra Pradesh is unmatchable and now, Amarnath says that it should not be compared with others. “The YCP leaders and ministers are opportunistic. They speak whatever suits to the situation but do not have any ethics,” pointed out a TDP leader.

“The YCP government and its leaders also claim that they are focused on the welfare of the poor and marginalized and how can they expect development to happen when they are not giving priority to it,” asked a Jana Sena leader.

At the same time, the TDP leaders took exception to the YCP government not acknowledging the fact that it was the vision of TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu that helped Telangana develop into an IT hub. “It was Naidu who sowed the seeds for development of Hyderabad into an IT hub but unfortunately, we lost the capital to Telangana. Both the YCP and the people should agree that Naidu’s strategy and planning had helped tech giants look at Hyderabad as an investment destination,” a senior leader of the TDP said.
