San Francisco supervisor asks for $50 million to create reparations office

SAN FRANCISCO (TND) — As San Francisco mulls giving qualifying Black citizens millions of dollars in reparations, one city supervisor wants to establish an official city reparations office, and is asking for $50 million to do so. Studies flag environmental impact of reentry

Space hardware tumbling out of orbit may lead to unforeseen environmental and climate impacts. Due to the growing scale and pace of launch activities, what is needed is better monitoring of the situation, as well as regulation to create an environmentally sustainable space industry. Shutler and colleagues authored the research paper “Atmospheric impacts of the space industry require oversight” in the August issue of the journal Nature Geoscience.

Then, just six minutes into the second episode, 30 penises flop across the screen in a locker room scene gender-swapped with the one from “Carrie.” But, despite what viewers may think, Sam Levinson, the showrunner of the “raw and honest” HBO show about a group of high school students grappling with sex, drugs and violence, didn’t want the nudity to feel gratuitous.

War in Ukraine has reshaped global energy markets

Nearly a year after Russian troops invaded Ukraine, the ongoing war has accelerated a European shift away from Russia’s fuel supplies, invigorated nuclear power in the region, isolated Russian President Vladimir Putin on the global stage and anchored a booming export business for U.S. gas companies. The war has also generated massive profits for oil companies while raising fuel and living costs worldwide, which ironically could help speed efforts to address climate change, particularly in developing nations.
